With the reform, development and enhancement of higher education inChina, encouragements for college students, as an important means toencourage college students to make progress and direct them to right valueorientation, needs to be improved and its motivation power needs to betaken out into full play. To deepen and enhance the reform on theencouragement system for college students and to work hard to improve andperfect the encouragement system is needed. To set the threshold for thesetting body will facilitate the formalization of the setting bodies and directthe sound social tides and will build good examples for them. Thereasonable classification of encouragement program will change the statusquo which is Wuhan Institute of Technology (WIT) a large number ofencouragement programs and is not in reasonable order. To rationalize theencouragement program will clarify the purpose of motivation. Thescientized encouragement appraisal will improve the timeliness ofencouragement program. Timely encouragement has great significance. Theevaluation on the effect of encouragement program is the guarantee for theimprovement of encouragement system and the basis for the furtherimprovement.On the basis of the importance of encouragement system on themanagement of the institutes of higher education and on the students affairsand for the lack of the related studies, the thesis, according to thequestionnaire and data analysis of college students in the WIT, is tointroduce the status quo of the encouragement system and to propose theexisting problems in the encouragement system vividly and propose thesolutions and strategies accordingly. The thesis includes four parts:introduction, theoretical basis, status quo and related problems and strategies,and conclusion Chapter One is the introduction, including study goal, significance, methods and means. The introduction relates the source andbackground of the problem. Chapter Two is the theoretical basis of thewhole thesis. It firstly defines the encouragement and tells the differencebetween the encouragement and scholarship and grants. The differencesbetween the two definitions are the key points of the study. It includes thedefinition of encouragement and scholarship and grants and the motivationtheory. Chapter Three relates the source and evolution of the encouragementsystem for college students. It includes the encouragement evolution athome and abroad. Chapter Four is the structural and elemental analysis ofencouragement system for the college students from the four aspects: settingbodies of encouragement, classification and programs of encouragement,appraisal procedures and time of encouragement and the effects ofencouragement. Chapter Five is the existing problems and strategies in theencouragement system. It analyzes the existing problems in theencouragement system for the college students and proposes the strategiesand advice to improve the encouragement system. Chapter Six is theconclusion to summarize the study on the encouragement system for collegestudents. The thesis is trying to study on the encouragement system forcollege students, lack of the former studies on this subject. The thesis is toimprove the encouragement system for college students and propose advicefor the management of encouragement system for college students.
