There is the ideology of refinement since ancient times. Lao Tzu said, great undertakinghave small beginning in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. Butwith the development of society, there are many major social problems have taken place inChina which changes form traditional society to modern society. The fundamental reason isthe refined social division of labor to the development of society are contradictory. With therefined social division of labor, social management and social development should be donemore refined, the refinement of society, the intensive society.The intensive society is based on scientific knowledge and technology. The intensivesociety is based on the principle of capital, accuracy, efficiency.The intensive society achievethe goal which production, management, every department and every category are effectivelyintegrated through the refined social division of labor. The intensive society promotes thedevelopment of humans and society. The intensive society has three characteristics ofstandardization, specialization and rationalization.In the process of constructing intensive society, knowledge is an important factor.Knowledge is a collection of experiment about objective world and itself essential propertythrough many means and channel. Knowledge has six characteristics of concealment,application, pluralism, copying, capital and age which reflect in the development of society.Knowledge has self value, tool value, information value and meaning value. The four valuehas important influence to the development of society. sociology of knowledge as aknowledge system with systematic and theorizing provide the theoretical basis for discussthe relationship of knowledge and the intensive society.Scientific knowledge does not directly promote the development of society, butindirectly promote the development of society. Scientific knowledge promotes the socialdivision of labor more refined through increase efficiency and productivity. Scientificknowledge shaping and enhancing humans’ awareness, capacities and capabilities throughmodernity. Scientific knowledge promotes social quantification, standardization andrationalization. Generally speaking, the Chinese society is still in the extensive stage at present, and thiskind of extensive characterize is decided by the Chinese extensive traditional culture andknowledge form, which are used in different fields of the social life through the people’s wayof thinking, the behavior pattern and the value concept. And the most important is that thescientific knowledge, the scientific spirit which brings up the scientific knowledge, and thescientific method do not deeply rooted in the society. This kind of scientific knowledgeshortage lead to a kind of social behavior, which is people still depend on the simpleexperience to guide their professionalism. And those can be found in guiding production andwork, organization and social management, and other various fields of the social services,which help the Chinese society made the significant achievements in the material producingfields, but variety of social systemic problems exposed constantly at the same time. In orderto reverse this in coordination development of this modern society, and to avoid more peopleor even the whole society to suffer from the unnecessary losses and damages, the deepenreform in terms of different social fields should be continued, meanwhile, the spirit oftechnology, learning, responsibility and precise should be prevailed, only by doing that socould the pace of the modern Chinese society will be more steady and robust.
