One of the junior middle school chemistry curriculum goal is to helpstudents understand the basic process and method of scientific inquiry, scientificinquiry ability, to enhance the scientific literacy of students. However, scientificinquiry is a very abstract, complex concept, academic understanding of themeaning of a variety of interpretations. This study is based on the2011chemistrycurriculum standard in the explanation: scientific inquiry chemistry curriculum incompulsory education, is an important practice that students take the initiative toobtain chemical knowledge, understanding and solving chemical problem; itinvolves questions, conjecture and hypothesis, making plans, experiment,collecting evidence, explanation and conclusion, relfection and evaluation,expression and communication and so on.How to help students easily understand the elements of scientific inquiry? Inthis study, scientists story is a very valuable way, the vivid, interesting storiesabout scientists applied to teaching practice of scientific inquiry, the inquiry ofthe original to visualize the abstract concept, concrete, can effectively enhancethe ability of students’ scientific inquiry to improve the understanding ofscientific inquiry, elements.This study selected I teach grade (3),(4) class as the research object,(3)class used the traditional teaching methods,(4) class by scientists the story ofscientific inquiry teaching. In teaching before and after the experimentrespectively by questionnaire about scientific inquiry cognition is the two class,were measured, and the measurement data is analyzed, draw the conclusion: the concrete concept, significance of abstraction can enhance memory andunderstanding; scientists story teaching can improve the students’ understandingof science inquiry; scientists the story teaching can generally improve thestudents’ understanding of science inquiry application level; scientific research onimproving the application level of the short term it is difficult to obtainsignificant changes, accumulation, training needs a long time to learn.Based on analysis conclusion on the data, recommendations are given: thejunior middle school chemistry teaching, the teachers should make full use of theimage of scientists,vivid stories,teaching value fully mining the story ofscientists,"education without a trace, a silent lubricant11to help studentsunderstand and memory of scientiifc inquiry in a relaxed,pleasant atmosphere,efficiently.
