Since the independence in1776,in the history of just two hundred years, thewhole higher education in American changed in a large part. Its achievement hadattracted people’s attention from all over the world. In terms of the number of thecolleges and universities, it rose from9to more than3300.For this rising star, just got rid of the long period of colonial controlled by UK,the United States developed gradually by itself,whether its economic, the industry,the commerce or education system in unceasing developed of a suitable path for theirdevelopment gradually. In terms of the higher education, developed from the nineuniversities to today’s powerful higher education system, the road was filled with thesweat of hardness, but the harvest of the practical experience benefit other countries aTracing the history of higher education, an important turning point that notallowed to be neglected is the promulgation and implementation of the1862MorrillAct. The bill, which opened up the modernization of higher education in the USA,according to this act, the state established the land grant colleges, then continue tosolve problems that hinder the further development of higher education, such an thesingle teaching form, the teaching content disconnect with the social production thecolleges’ talents training goal which limited to the clergy and so on. This act aims onhow to train practical talents, how to reform and practice the teaching mode, teachingcontent, the personnel training mode aspects. According to federal legislation, thestate took continuous effort to establish a more reliable agriculture education with thesupport of the federal government. Atfer a difficult period of reform, the achievementof exploration and innovation in higher education in the United States was inspiring.This paper is based on the research of how the Morrill Act impact on the highereducation in the USA. Researching the origin, the process of its development, thepromulgation and implementation of the act,we can get the in-depth study of the impact of higher education and reveal the significance of higher education in the USAand all over the world.
