Ever since the reform and opening-up, China has been absorbing Western ideas as well as the advanced technologies. However, the blind pursuit of West way of life which advocates individualism and self-assertion has seriously challenged the traditional values cherished by Chinese. This worship of foreign things has resulted in the decline of the moral education in China. The series of sad incidents include suicide, homicide, and campus violence that have frequently been heard from the Chinese colleges not only have direct impact on the mental and physical soundness of college students, but also pose serious challenges to the smooth development of the moral education and life education in China. With the rapid development of science and technology, the role of talents is also becoming increasingly important. However, while people are busy cramming knowledge, they are also unknowingly losing themselves in the separated education of knowledge and ethics. Moral education is the basis for talent cultivation. And life is undoubtedly the prerequisite for everything. A person has to be alive to create values. And a talent without ethics would never invent valuable technologies. Therefore, moral education and life education are inextricably interrelated. Life education is rich because of moral education; and moral education develops because of life. We cannot separately treat the two in college education, and we cannot only emphasize life education while neglecting the education of other knowledge. Hence, it is a significant topic for every Chinese college to strike a proper balance between them, and this paper is written to serve this purpose.This paper studies the problems faced by Chinese colleges in their moral education through investigations, linking theory with practice and literature research in the context where moral education and life education are hindered by various social phenomena. It also tries to see into current status of moral education as well as the popularization of life education in colleges in an effort to have in-depth analysis of the innate problems. Based on the understanding of the relationship between moral education and life education, this paper tries to guide the college students in China to have a correct understanding of life and life education, so as to help them realize the meaning and value of life.This paper finds out causes for the absence of life education in Chinese colleges and has in-depth analysis of the problems existing in the moral education and life education in China. Corresponding countermeasures are then made to tackle the problems. The paper pays earnest attention to the characteristics of college students so as to point out a right direction for their healthy development. The characteristics of students of this age should be fully considered to orient them into a positive and correct understanding toward moral education and life education, so that they will truly understand their own values. Therefore, the integration of life education into the moral education in Chinese colleges plays a very important role in guiding the college students to form good ethics and positive life values.
