The hui nationality is the main body of Islam in our country. Islamic culture is the fundamental basis of hui nationality. As an independent nationality, religious education is an important way of continuing its national vitality. Yunnan Hui people, homologous with the Chinese Hui, made an active contribution to promoting the localization of Islam, modernization of religious education and the adjustment to mainstream society. The thesis displays Yunnan Hui people’s self-adaption to social change in terms of Mosque Education and modern education. As to the Mosque Educationg, it focus on the characters of Yunnan Mosque Education. As regards to the Hui modern education, on the basis of elaborating its origin, taking Chinese-Arabic school of Zhaotong as a model place for investigation and case study. In response to the impact and pressure of modern society on nationality culture under the background of globalization, discussing the difficulties facing the Hui modern education, exploring the future tendency of Yunnan Hui religious education.Study on Hui modern education is still in surface descriptive stage, has not formed a systematic study. As a form of Hui modern religious education, the author, combines field research with documentary materials, made a careful analysis to Chines-Arabic school, trying to present the intiation cause, features, development model and problems of Hui modern education objectively.The thesis argues that the social and cultural changes affect all aspects in Hui nationality’s life, and naturally they also have impact on the concept and methods of traditional education. For Hui nationality’s religious education, from Mosque education, Chinese translation activities, new Muslims education to today’s various forms of Arabic schools, each stage has reflected Muslim’s community survival, development conditions. The present Chinese-Arabic school, as the main form of Hui nationality religious education, is a product of modern society and the development of education, and it is also the reflection of ethnic tension.
