From psychological perspective, father image means the image of father existing in memory and imagination, including his character, interaction with family members, and education mode in children and position in the family. People with different cultural backgrounds and different groups have different understanding about father. Large amounts of studies in developmental psychology indicate the significant role of father in children’s development, including the influence in individual mind, morality and behavior pattern. If lacking of proper guidance, existing behavior biases probably deteriorate into criminals. In modern society, minor crime has become the most disturbing problem and is urge to be solved. Since1980s, minor crimes situation becomes more and more serious. According to the report of relevant departments, about70%of the minor crimes are due to family factors, which mean that most of the juvenile offenders come from troubled family. Among which, parents’education is the factor that can not be ignored. Therefore, based on the theory of father presence, my research employs explicit questionnaire, implicit experiment and in-depth interview to study the father images of juvenile offenders In order to provide theoretical reference and practice guidance in preventing minor crimes. The research consists of three steps. First, measure the explicit father images of juvenile offenders through the self-compiled qestuestionnaire "Semantic difference of father image". Second, study the implicit father image by I AT method and compare it with the explicit image. Third, by applying in-depth interviews, encode data system to investigate the composition of Juvenile offenders’father image. The research shows that:1) The explicit father image of juvenile offenders is good, especially in working ability and personal character. The good evaluation matches the requirements in Chinese traditional culture. And fathers’performance in family and interpersonal communication is significantly higher than that in college control group;2) Without the IAT effect, the implicit father image of juvenile offenders is not good. There exists even negative IAT effect in family performance, which implies the dissatisfaction with the performance of father;3) The interview shows that juvenile offenders speak highly of the ability and character of their father, bringing into correspondence with the questionnaire result. However, they are not satisfied with father’s performance in family and parent-children interaction;4) The company and communication between juvenile offenders and their father is far from enough, companying with simple and crude education methods and disrespect;5) The ideal father image in juvenile offenders’opinion consists of scientific education system, equal communication, understand and respect of children and proper company, i.e father presence in high quality;6) Father absence In children’s growth has critical effect on minor crimes.
