The biological experiment teaching is an important part of high schoolbiology teaching. It is an effective way to develop students’ biological scienceliteracy. Under the guidance of the concept, improving this philosophy ofbiological science literacy in the new round of the senior secondarycurriculum reform, the new high school curriculum standards put forward aseries of suggestions, which are strengthening and improving the biologicalexperiment teaching. Strengthening the biological experiment teaching is theneed to adapt to the new curriculum reform. It is the fundamental way topromote quality education, and an important guarantee for the all-rounddevelopment of students finally.In this paper, using questionnaire survey for teachers and studentsrespectively, and combined with the interview survey, investigate and studythe status of biological experiment teaching of12senior high schools inGuiyang City (6Districts,3counties,1prefecture level cities). Theinvestigation includes basic laboratory construction, software construction, theclass of experimental teaching, the development of teaching resources and theprescribed rate of experiments; Biology teachers knowledge of the status androle of biological experiment teaching, the teaching methods of experimentteachers, the way of assessment and evaluation to the student; the senior highschool student’s attitude towards the arrangement of school biologyexperiment teaching and experimental teachers teaching way, and thelearning ability, interest and performance of students in biological experiment,etc. Survey results show that:(1) It is a big difference in laboratory construction conditions and thefunds between the ordinary high schools in Guiyang city. Parts of the schoolslaboratory are lack of funds, laboratory equipment, and full-time teachers inbiological experiments. So the experiment out rate is low. Insufficientexperimental conditions affected the enthusiasm of teachers and students inbiological experiment and study in a certain extent.(2) Most of the students are interested in biological experiment. Themajorities of students enjoy hands-on experiments, and carry out explorationactivities in spare time. But biological experimental teaching is still notenough attention in most of the schools and some teachers still regardbiological experiment teaching as an auxiliary form of theory teaching. The numbers of experimental classes are insufficient seriously, and the classicexperiments are more, the inquiring experiments are rare. The experimentmainly teaches by lecture, demonstration and simulation, which greatly restrictstudents obtaining knowledge, improve their ability of experiment throughhands-on operation, and the students are lack the abilities of askingquestions,analyzing problems, improving and exploring questions.(3) In the process of teaching, the most current high school biologyteachers in Guiyang City, adjust the experimental teaching order and contentaccording to their needs, and teach by many kinds of teaching methods tocarry out the experimental teaching, the guide, cooperate&inquiry,multimedia etc. But the survey also showed that, teaching methods, teachingcontent arrangement and the students hands-on time that still affect thestudents to interest in biological experiment the main reason.To solve the above problems, put forward some countermeasures on howto improve high school biology experiment teaching: firstly, pay attention tothe school laboratory funds, in order to narrow the gap between schools.Teachers have to carry out the experimental teaching with whatever isavailable. Secondly, improve the understanding of the biological experimentteaching status, attach the importance of experimental teaching, arrangeexperiment teaching scientifically and reasonably, improve experiment outrate, make full use of teaching resources, focus on training students’ interest inbiological experiment. Finally, strengthen the construction of teaching staff,increased training efforts, improve teachers’ knowledge reserves and teachingability, complete the evaluation mechanism, and establish a diversifiedevaluation system.
