| Lexical chunk is a language phenomenon that combinesgrammar, semantics and context. It is common that some high schoolteachers usually apply the traditional way into teaching the vocabulariesor lexical chunks by explanation and dictation or asking the students torecite. They ignore the importance of an effective vocabulary teachingmethod. The researcher has found that an excellent application of lexicalchunks method can apparently accelerate language learning process andprovide a meaningful impacts on both students’ learning methods andtheir awareness of application for lexical chunks.In the recent years, although lexical chunks research has beendrawn much attention by some researchers, it still remains at the theoryexploration period with a lack of abundant practices to prove, especiallyfor the high school teaching. In this thesis, it will put much attention tothe investigation on fresh students’ lexical chunks recognition level andlearning strategy, making a discussion on how to organize the high schoolEnglish vocabulary teaching in the aim of making some contributions tothis field.The thesis consists of5chapters. Chapter1is a brief introduction tothe research background, research questions and research method. Chapter2provides a literature review of lexical chunks, including lexical chunks’definition and other based theories, as well as the categories of lexical chunks and other studied in this field. Chapter3is the detailed description ofthe research design including research purpose, questions, method,participants, instruments and procedure. Chapter4describes the result anddiscussion about the investigation and pretest and posttest results andinterview results. Chapter5describes the major findings, implications,limitations and suggestions for the future research in this field. |
