Research On The Equality Of College Entrance Examination System From The Perspective Of Educational Equality

“Gao Kao”—the college entrance examination and enrollment system affect the educationalcause in our country as well as the development of society and economy in all aspects. The reform ofthe system has lasted for more than30years since1977,achieving great success that is widelyacknowledged and providing a great number of talents for the construction of the country. However,problems arise constantly during the process of innovation of which equality is the focus. Equality isthe permanent pursuit of human society as well as the core value concept in a democratic society.Equality of education is an important of social equality which is shown by equal opportunity ofreceiving higher education. The value concept of equality usually can’t be realized during the processof entrance examination and enrollment where such problems as unbalanced access to highereducation, localized enrollment inclination and unfair phenomena in autonomous admission arealways the focus of mass media. According to the theories concerned and experience in the reforms ofother countries, this essay is intended to come up with some suggestions on the reform of “Gao Kao”by analyzing problems in the current system.The essay includes four chapters. The first one introduces the background meaning and methodof this research. The second part introduces the history and current situation of college entranceexamination reform. The first chapter analyzes the problems of the current system in the aspects of itsform、content、imbalance of admission opportunity and autonomous enrollment and explains thereasons which include imbalanced distribution of educational resources、localization enrollment of thekey universities、opaqueness of the admission procedures and lack of mechanism ensuring honesty.The last chapter provides some ideas and suggestions for further reform according to the experienceof the reform of foreign countries and the development of our higher education.
