"Students with learning difficulty" is an issue which has been troubling many parents, teachers and students themselves for a long time. The number of students with learning difficulty is increasing over time owing to various reasons. Therefore, the research aims to finding out different types of motivations and factors that influence the motivations among the students with learning difficulty. Based on this, the strategies to stimulate students’English learning motivation are put forward to improve their learning attitude and their academic achievement. A questionnaire was carried out among the30students with English learning difficulty in the Affiliated High School to Anhui University of Technology. The questionnaire is made up of two parts. Part one is about the main types of English learning motivation of students with learning difficulty; Part two is about the factors that have influences on their English learning motivation.The research is conducted at the fixed time, in the fixed place, so it is objective and scientific. What we can know from the result is that most of the students with English learning difficulty think they learn English only to get a better chance to be admitted to the university and they are able to find a satisfied job in the near future. On the other hand, there are some students enj oy the happiness and pleasure in the English learning process because they are curious about English culture and customs. This kind of motivation is the integrative motivation.Many factors can influence the English learning motivation of students with learning difficulty. These factors can be divided inner factors and outer factors. The inner factors include the learner’s real needs, goals, self-efficacy, attribution; the outer factors include the learning atmosphere, the teacher’s quality and the teacher’s teaching style and evaluating style. Accordingly, the author comes up with some strategies to stimulate the English learning motivation of students with learning difficulty. For example, creating a lively and harmonious learning atmosphere, creating real and vivid teaching scenes, designing colorful and inspiring activities, teaching students according to their inherent ability and so on.The thesis concentrates on a special group—"students with learning difficulty" in senior high school and does some research on their English learning motivation. At the same time, the author put forward some practical strategies. It is certain that the thesis will help to arouse and stimulate the English learning motivation of students with learning difficulty and thus improve their English academic performance.
