English listening as the important constituent of the complete English ability——“listening, speaking, reading and writing”, is the first link of English effective display andapplication in social interaction and practice, is the basic premise and main way forcomprehensive promotion of English ability. English teaching in junior middle school isstudents’ key stage of development of English ability. So it is inevitably the important targetand task for English teachers to develop students’ good listening skill. It has importanttheoretical value and practical significance to study the effective way of training of theEnglish listening in junior middle school.This paper in a clear and effective analysis of the basic concepts of English listeningeffective teaching and correlation theories, combining the basic spirit and specificrequirements on the English ability in “full-time compulsory education junior middle schoolEnglish Curriculum Standards (experimental draft)”, mainly uses the literature,questionnaire survey, interviews and other research methods, real summarizes and reflects theconfusion and inefficiency of current junior middle school English listening teaching,with thesystem and detailed survey data as the basis, clearly point out and deeply analysis the causesand reasons of low efficiency in English listening teaching in the junior middle school,including the misleading effect of low score of listening in English examination, Englishtextbook design method not conducive to the effective teaching of listening, the scarcity ofresources of the teaching of English listening, the English learning environment factorsmissing, teachers’ low specialization degree of English listening teaching, students’ weakEnglish foundation and weak learning will; according to the problem and its causes, this paperfurther targeted puts forward to improve English listening strategies of effective teaching,including increasing investment in education, improving conditions of the teaching of Englishlistening, revising English textbooks, increasing content of English listening teaching material,strengthening the training of English teachers, improving teachers’ ability of teaching Englishlistening, increasing English factors of school environment, creating English learningatmosphere, developing English practice activities, strengthening the mode of teachingEnglish listening and method of application, clearing English standards of listening andreasonable evaluation on students’ listening.
