Research On The Internationalization Of The Japanese NGO

NGO is an important actor in today’s international system. Generally, with contrast to the developed countries, the development of Chinese NGO started lately and developed slowly. With the rising of China’s international status, Chinese NGO failed to play a relevant role in a certain extent, so it’s urgent to accelerate the pace of internationalization.In the late 1990s, the internationalization of Japanese NGO experienced its infancy, prosperous development and then the in-depth development stage. The corresponding legal status, management system and tax system also synchronized up. During this period, the Japanese NGO has achieved certain development in the aspects of activity areas, fields and patterns. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has established support mechanism in three aspects of funds, activity environment, dialogue and consultation in order to accelerate the development of Japanese NGO. At present, Japanese NGO not only actively seek cooperation with the United Nations, representative of the international inter-governmental organizations, but also positively participate in the international NGO network, which made its own achieving a certain degree of internationalization. International Industrial Spirit Culture Association, Association of Doctors of Asia and the Earth Civic Associations are typical Japanese NGO respectively in the fields of rural development, emergency assistance and education assistance. On the basis of understand their basic profiles and the case analysis about their specific activities in the Southeast Asian region, we found that strong government support, a comprehensive financial support system and actively strengthen the construction of capacity of NGO itself are the important reasons for Japanese NGO to achieve internationalization.In order to achieve a better development of internationalization of Chinese NGO, the Chinese government should increase support to the NGO which towards the direction of internationalization, NGO need to effectively improve the level of internationalization and the capacity-construction, and the Chinese society needs to raise their recognition to the internationalization of NGO. So as to play a role in advancing the global governance, improving the influence of China in international affairs and shaping excellent image of our country.
