On The Realizability Of Rawls’ Difference Principle In The Context Of China

Since the reform and opening up, China put forward new ideas that it must lead some people to become rich first and then bring along the poorer, in order to achieve astonishing economic development. Although these ideas promote overall levels of economic growth, the inequalities are gradually increasing. In recent years, many experts want to explore a new path to reform and development, according to the advanced thought in western countries. In this case, Rawls’principles of justices are introduced and applied in china, which is popular in modern Western philosophy.Rawls summed the justice principles to the principle of equality and freedom and the principles of equal opportunity and fair difference principle in his justice theory. The former principle refers to the political rights of citizens, and the latter principle refers to the redistribution of economic interests. Then the difference principle aroused the concern of many scholars in the second principle of justice. The core of the difference principle is to increase the hope of basic goodness and improve the situation in the most disadvantaged people.The new theory of the difference principle provoke in many different opinions in early stage. Some conservative libertarians think that the overly equal requirement in difference principle will undermine the freedom of people and violate the rights of citizens. In addition, Radical egalitarians believe that Rawls’quest for equality on the surface cover up the inequalities in the social and economic.However, it does not prevent us to discuss and realize Rawls’s difference principle in China. This article will discuss that how to bridge the gape by the difference principle in the maintenance of the underlying vulnerable groups, and how to protect the society health by the difference principle in the development of relevant laws and regulations. In addition, by comparing the difference principles in the realization of political, economic and education, we obtain that the education can achieve better effect in China situation.
