Research On Max Weber’s Thought Of Class, Status And Party

Max Weber’s thought of class, status and party occupy the important position in the field of western social stratification and this thought is the source of the most important theories in the study of social stratification. Weber puts the thought of class, status and party within the framework of political community. This thought was later known as the multiple layered thought, class, status and party tend to be simplified to standards of wealth, prestige and power. In fact, Weber’s thought of class, status and party also contains more extensive content. To explore the Weber this thought has important implications to analyze social stratification in the contemporary Chinese and promote the development of socialist market economic system and promote citizen orderly participation in political life.This paper from four aspects discussed Weber’s thought of class, status and party.The first part is an introduction, mainly containing the purpose and significance of the topic of this paper, overseas and domestic research status, research methods and innovations in this paper. Weber’s thought of class, status and party occupy the important position and play a significant impact in the field of western social stratification. This thought has important significance to recognize the complexity of China’s social structure and build a harmonious socialist society.The second part illustrates the background of Weber’s thought of class, status and party, including social background, theoretical source and theoretical foundation. The social background contains the change of social structure caused the development of the industrial revolution, political coalitions of landlord class and bourgeoisie, the development of parties, and the development of the status group promoted education reform; Theoretical source contains the subjective and objective theories of social stratification, and Tnnies and Simmel’s thought of community; Theoretical foundation contains the thought of the political community and humanistic methodology.The third part is the main part of the paper, analyzing the comprehensive content of thought of class, status and party. This part contains class concept and classification, class organization, class action and class struggle; status concept, foundation, formation, extreme form, economic conditions and consequences; party concept, classification and characteristics. Finally, this paper states the relation between class, status and party.The fourth part is evaluation to the thought of class, status and party. The evaluation contains two aspects about value and defect, and the value is positive significance to analyze the current situation of Chinese class, the development of socialist market economy and expansion of citizen’s political participation; and the defect contains three aspects of class, status and party from the comparison with the Marx’s theory of class.
