Nicholas I can be regarded as a last absolute autocratic monarch in the history of Russia. Tsar Alexander II who was the successor of Nicholas I carried out the bourgeois reform in 1861, although the reform was not complete, but Russia embarked on the path of development of capitalism. Tsar Alexander I who was the predecessor of Nicholas I led Holy Alliance and he was the arbiter of European affairs.In the period of Nicholas I, Nicholas I led the Russian to play the role of the European Gendarmerie.But later the Crimean War made Russia fall into the abyss from the summit of the European continental hegemony. Although there was the military reform in the period of Nicholas I, it has a certain significance at that time and provided a reference for the Miliutin’s military reform of the 1860 s and 1870 s. But Russia was defeated in the Crimean War and the war exposed a lot of Russian military shortcomings. Military reform in the period of Nicholas I was conservative and incomplete.This article attempts to study on the military reform in the period of Nicholas I, then it reflects and sums up the experience and inspiration of Russian military reform.This article is introduced from the background of the military reform in the period of Nicholas I at first, then it in detail describes the content and impact of the military reform in the period of Nicholas I and finally it talks about the results and thinking of the military reform in the period of Nicholas I.This article will be discussed in three parts, namely the introduction,the body and the conclusion.The first part is the first chapter of this article. In this part, it introduces the research object and the significance of the topic selection, research status at home and abroad, research methods and creative ideas, as well as innovation and inadequate.The second part focuses on the content of this article. This section includes the contents of the second to the sixth chapter.The second chapter introduces the background of military reform in the period of Nicholas I. It mainly introduces from both the international and domestic environments. The third chapter introduces themilitary codification in the period of Nicholas I. It talks about the initial attempt and its meaning.Then it introduces the birth of the Digest of Military Regulations and its significance. The fourth chapter describes the reform of the military administrative organization in the period of Nicholas I, with specific reference to the reform process from 1831 to 1836 and the significance of the reform.The fifth chapter describes the reform of military service and military education in the period of Nicholas I. It introduces the reform of military service and its influence.It also introduces the reform of military education an its influence. The sixth chapter is thinking about the military reform in the period of Nicholas I from the Crimean War which in turn caused the problems exposed military thinking of military reform during this period.It talks about the military issues that Crimean War exposed and the role of the military reform in the period of Nicholas I.The third part is the conclusion which is part of the full text for the overall summary. Recalling the process of the military reform in the period of Nicholas I,although it makes some sense at that time and it is certain reference to the military reform in the next period of Russia, but the Crimean War has tested the defects of the Russian military. The failure of the war has proved that the military reform based on Russian feudal serfdom is conservative and incomplete. Historical development requires a new revolution.It needs a new military reform based on the abolition of serfdom to improve Russian military strength.
