A Study Of Iwasa Shigeru’s Marxist Ecological Thought

With more extreme weathers happening to China, environmental problems have been a hot topic again. Almost associated with progress of each time in the history of human civilization, environmental problems were always a tough issue and in modern history, have become a more severe problem. The contradictions of capitalist development, seen from a wider historical background, worsen the environmental situation. Based on the basic principle of the Marx doctrine, Marxist Ecological Thought tries to find out a method to deal with the ecological crisis caused by the modern ecological environment problems. Japanese academic researcher of Marxism, Iwasa Shigeru is the first one in Japan who studies ecology and also is an important driving force for the development of the ecology of the Marx doctrine. Study on Iwasa Shigeru’s thought will throw light into in the ecology environment studies of China domestic Marx doctrine, in addition, it will also have significance to China’s "ecological civilization construction” and to China’s socialist construction. Iwasa Shigeru, taking Marx thought as foothold and unifying Ecology and Practical Materialism, puts forwards his Marxism-based ecology theory. Based on method of Marx doctrine theory, he points out the essence of environmental problems and put forwards the pair of contradiction of logic of life and the logic of capital. He creatively put forward the "socialism is in nature the ecological socialism".Iwasa Shigeru’s Marxist ecology has its originality, and the theory also has certain rationality. But his view on nature and ecological is still deviant from values and thought of Marxism, thus still contains limitations. Iwasa Shigeru only criticizes capitalism in the representation and theory dimension, but does not touch the fundamental system of capitalism. Because of his unable thorough criticism on capitalism, his thoughts have not a very strong realistic guiding significance.Generally, on the one hand, the study of Shigeru Iwasa environmental thought enriches the content of our domestic studies of ecological Marxism, on the other hand, China’s socialist construction has reached an important period of development, and thus the study has great significance for constructing the ecological civilization of "Five in One" strategic development plan, for example, promoting the recycling development path of environmental conservation and taking the "logic of life" to guide public changes of lifestyle to promote the healthy development of our society; and establishing the evaluation index system of ecological civilization in the new normal economic development and so on.
