An Anthropological Investigation Of Religious Life About The Hui In Northeastern Town

This paper is a research about the religion and religious practice of Hui in Songyuan, Jilin. Contains the description about the religious concept, ritual, festival in the local religious life, I also try to drawing the religious life about the people to analyze the practice and identity in Songyuan.This article uses the method of participant observation and interview, by using the document collected in Fuyu and Qianguo to analyze the life of the Hui, I get the following conclusion:First, as the same situation of rest part of the east, Songyuan Hui people always be labeled as fake Hui in some sort of discourse. But its Islamic core has never be changed. The difference is just in the practice in the religion but not in the level of faith.Secondly, there is difference between generations in Songyuan Hui people in the practice in religious life. But the returning of the religion is recurring. Through analyzing, I found the reason here as follow:One, is the discourse of the country. What we should realize here is the minority polices are still limited in its function. Theprivilege here in east is much more lower than the east.Second, is the react of the local government. As the minority image in the tourism industry, in the has a economic privilege they try their best to express and act their,but they do have some confusion, in one hand they do not attend to abandon any of these privileges, on the other hand, this image has been an obstacle in the way when they want blend into the urban life.The third one is the incomplete educational system. The incomplete social cognition and the secularization make gaps and emptiness between areas. And families are taking the major responsibilities which is socially earned out before. And religious enlightenment and family education has been a key through the growing year. Moreover, the globalization and the division of labor in the society brought a huge impact too.This increases the absence of religious knowledge in the life the youth.Besides, what we must see is the practice among the former generations, and the repaying mechanism is still among the group of college students. The returning of religion is happening in the Hui of Songyuan.
