Simulacra Theory is in the core position of connecting linkbetween the preceding and the rear in Jean Baudrillard’stheoretical development. The preceding section of the paper isanalysis about items symbolization, consumption theory, andsymbol axiology in the early time of Baudrillard; after partof the paper is a series of postmodern discourses given riseto simulacra such as simulation, implosion, and hyper–reality.This paper attempts to tease out the internal and externalcauses of the concept "simulacra", and to do a detailed studyon the connotation of the concept, then point out the essenceof Simulacra Theory and its contemporary value.In the introduction, we introduce the research status ofBaudrillard’s Simulacra Theory.Then, we illustrate the purposeand significance of this research.The first part focuses on the analysis of the theoreticalsource and realistic roots of Simulacra Theory, mainlyincluding the linguistic turn and the coming of consumersociety. In this part, we focus on that Baudrillard’s SimulacraTheory is the development based on the theories of Saussure’ssemiotic linguistics and Roland Barthes’ semiotics. In theother side, after World War Ⅱ,undering modernizationconstruction and the development of high science and technology,western capitalist society entered the period of the consumersociety, the symbol consumption has become the focus ofpeople’s consumption, and become identification markings ofidentity and status. So,we can say that the linguistic turnand consumer society is the cradle of birth of Baudrillard’sSimulacra Theory.The second part analysis the whole proces of Baudrillard’sSimulacra Theory, from items to symbol, from simulate tosimulacra, and form reality to hyper—reality, and then revealsthe essence of Baudrillard’s consumer society is a simulacraworld what composed of symbol.The third part focuses on the perfect crime which result insimulacra. Due to the unlimited reproduction of symbols,simulacra create a hyper—reality world, and leads to the lossof authentic survival. With the development of high technology,Baudrillard believes that the items began to get rid of people,and then launched a counterattack to people, and revenged tothe subject,that was revenge of crystal.Face to the informationexplosion in the simulacra world, silent mass became a destinedstrategy to media.At last, we reflection on Baudrillard’s Simulacra Theory,analysis the criticism of symbol consumption and culture media,also point out the significance to enrich Marxist theory,reflection on the high technology,and give a warning to currentconsumption and social.
