Marine ecological damage liability insurance is a kind of insurance for the mari ne ecological environment, the establishment of the system may ensure promptly con trolling of marine ecological damage, thus contributing to the protection of the marin e ecological environment and rational development and utilization of marine resourc es. As ecological damage liability insurance starts relatively late in China, we need mature international experience and practices for reference. Some principled stipulati ons of environmental liability insurance only existed in some departmental law and p olicy documents, and concentrated in the marine sector. Therefore, the experimental work of the establishment of ecological damage liability insurance in the marine sect or more applicable. Mandatory liability insurance mode shall be adopted by ecologic al damage liability insurance considering the necessity and insurability of damage lia bility insurance from the perspective of the Insurance Law and the marine ecological environment. In order to ensure the effective implementation of the marine ecologic al damage liability insurance, specific stipulations shall be designed. Moreover, spec ific system related to marine ecological damage shall be filled in case of marine ecol ogical damage caused by marine pollution accidents.
