Political Association, Government Intervention Effects On Carbon Disclosure

In recent years with the intensification of global warming, people begin to pay close attention to carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions. Enterprise as the main emitters of greenhouse gases, to disclose the traditional financial and accounting reports have not only meet the needs of information users, the enterprise shall disclose the information related to greenhouse gas emissions. At the same time because of special economic background in China the government is closely related to the behavior of the enterprise. Therefore, this article from the perspective of government political research enterprise associated with the degree of government intervention on its carbon disclosure level.Based on China’s 2011-2013, 16 heavy pollution industry listed companies as the research object, try to set up enterprise carbon disclosure level evaluation system and on this basis of the carbon disclosure level of sample firms and political associations, government intervention the two factors that affect the level of enterprise information disclosure of carbon has carried on the empirical research.In this article through the study the following conclusions:(1) the carbon information disclosure of listed companies of heavy pollution industry in China with low overall level, and lack of normative way of disclosure and disclosure contents and uniformity.(2) in non-state-owned holding listed companies of heavily polluting industries, enterprise whether there is a political association with carbon disclosure level was significantly positive correlation; State holding listed companies, whether enterprises have political association not carbon disclosure level have a significant impact to the enterprise.(3) the area of the marketization process and enterprise carbon disclosure level was significantly positive correlation; Enterprise of local environmental protection supervision of local government and the enterprise information disclosure level is not related to carbon. Finally combining with the research results this paper puts forward the corresponding policy recommendations, in order to improve the level of carbon information disclosure of listed companies in our country.
