The Dilemma Of Countries Seeking Nuclear Weapons

Since the birth of nuclear weapons, it has brought tremendous fear of nuclear war to human because of its huge destruction and inhuman killing ability.The emergence of nuclear weapons has changed the traditional pattern of war and human perception about war.The traditional war which takes cities and seizes territory as its destination has transformed into the new war in the nuclear age.The strategic nuclear deterrent to potential enemies which will suffer a devastating revenge right away if it starts the war prevents the attack.Because of the great effect of nuclear weapons, many countries run after it.Since the "Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty" signed,it has made great achievements in the field of nuclear non-proliferation and prevented the rapid growth of the number of countries with nuclear weapons effectively,but the defects and insufficiency of the "Nuclear Non- Proliferation Treaty",the rights and obligations of nuclear and non-nuclear weapon states is not balanced,policy differences of Nuclear power in preventing the proliferation of nuclear weapons, which enable the international community to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons to face enormous challenges.India, Pakistan acquired nuclear weapons, not only there is little affected by the sanctions of the international community, but also America increased with India civil nuclear cooperation projects.Libya, Iraq’s nuclear program was frustrated, the reality of the regime was overthrown, make some countries have the drive to seek nuclear weapons. The consensus of the international community to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons, the rise of the movement of a nuclear weapon-free world, left some countries which seek nuclear weapons to fall into a dilemma.This paper attempts to proceed from the perspective of national security,discuss the dilemma of countries seeking nuclear weapons in the current international environment.The paper will analyze further the background of countries seeking nuclear weapons, facing the dilemma and choice when countries seek nuclear weapons,the dilemma of Iran explore nuclear weapons.
