User model is an important aspect of human-computer interaction. User modeltranslate the model owned by user into computer model. The computer can understand howthe user perceive and recognize surroundings. Based on the understanding of user model,computer can change its action to adapt user.For the weapon human-computer interface, the display and control interface is relatedto the usability and combat effectiveness. With the extensive application of informationtechnology in weapons systems, the need of user-oriented model of weapon is also growingfor human-computer interface.Based on the existing research of the project, this paper puts forward the user-orientedmodel human-computer interaction (HCI) technology. By analyzing the factors of userbehavior from a different perspective, this paper develops the user model for HCI of turretand designs the interface. The aim is to guide the action, decrease the mental load,eliminate the errors and improve the usability of the interface. The ultimate goal is toimprove the operation effectiveness of the weapon system.The main research work is summarized as follows:1. The first part of this paper presents user model for adaptive human computerinterface, including information collection, modeling method and the relation betweenadaptive human computer interface and user model.2. Aiming at the weapon system, this part presents the establishment of user model forturret. The information includes user profile, behavior information and domain information.The matching of user model and behavior monitor is also discussed in this part.3. Based on cognitive psychology, this part designs the experiment and investigates theinfluence of position and color of text to reaction time and accuracy.4. This part studies the design method of human-computer interface for turret. Itpresents the user interface model and user interface toolkit.4. Base on the above study, this part presents the system requirement, establishes thedevelop platform base on VMWare and designs the display and control system. Finally, a validation instance is presented.
