Study On The Assessment Of The National Image Based On The Functional Perspective

With the development of variousmedia and technology, communication technologies，the international community has become a high-speed information-based global society.Government departments promote their national image by making videos, etc., Nationalimage has become not only governments pay much attention on, but also a field academiaattach great importance to. However, under the fanatical pursuit of the national image,more importantly is the scientific definition of it and expand its accurate assessment.Based on the current research scholars at home and abroad, combined with my ownthinking, I considered that national image is not simply the accumulation of material base,the strength of the country, but the massive amounts of data records comprehensivepresentation during long-term interactions between one country and another. Its essence isthat the two countries in the long-term mutual exchanges of views and each other to forman impression and opinions. On this basis, this paper argues, national image has differentconnotations, this paper attempts from the nation’s functional perspective, namely thepolitical functions, the economy functions and cultural functions of the state, byanalyzing the image of the country ’s political, economic and cultural image and theimage of the following specific constitute indicators, to carry out a "how college studentssee the world" survey.At the end,this paper has got some answers about how our collegestudents see United States, Britain, France, Germany and other eight country based onfeedback data from this survey. According to this study,people get information of othercountries through the Internet, television, newspapers, magazines and other media, themedia is the most effective way to build the national image and communication. Inaddition, the study results do not draw a correlation between the national image itself andthe country’s GDP, the economy and the economic strength of the image, the GDP doesnot directly affect national image and the image of the country’s economy; However,political image was a significant correlation of economic image.
