Modern China has a big change in transformation from a traditional society to modern society,farmers liberate from the traditional kinship and clan organization, gradually become the mainbody of the rural social political and economic relations, modern Chinese peasant association hasvery important significance in the process of this change.Firstly, the peasant association was a government agricultural consultancy in Qing dynasty.Zhili Province Farming Association is the earliest legal society status of the peasant associations.In Late Qing dynasty, agricultural production was backward, farmers’ life was hard, the advancedsocial classes began to consider industrial road to salvation, the peasant association came intobeing, it was mainly responsible for editing agronomy, establishing agricultural schools, carringout agricultural research and other activities. Because it was strictly governed by government, itsactivities need government support, and the main composition of the membership was landedgentry, so the nature of the peasant associations was a government agricultural consultancy.Secondly, the peasant association was a power organization in The Great Revolution Period.After the founding of the communist party of China, peasant organizations become farmersthemselves social transformation of the organization. In this period, land concentratedincreasingly, rural class changed significantly. Peasant association led farmers with the support ofnorthern expedition, to carry out the anti-imperialist struggle and rural revolution. It had beenextremely far-reaching influence on Chinese society.Thirdly, the peasant association renovated the social order in the national government period.After the Revolution was failure, the peasant association of the Great Revolution Period quited thehistorical stage, the Kuomintang and the Communist Party reconstructed the peasant association,the Kuomeintang transformed it into a tool to consolidate its country ruling order, but theCommunist Party put it as a power organization.Fourthly, the peasant association led land reform in the early period of new China. After thefounding of new China, communist party of China led the people reform and construction,organized farmers to develop land revolution and social reform in the countryside. But after thecompletion of land reform, the rural grass-roots regime has been constructed, the peasantassociation quited the historical stage ultimately. Peasant association truly protect the farmers’interests, effectively maintain the stability of the rural society.Through the study of the history of the modern peasant association, we can get some enlightenments: The establishment of peasant organizations and their tasks, are closely related tothe themes and social needs of the society at that time. If it wants to obtain long-termdevelopment in a particular society, the peasant associations must have a certain legitimacyfoundation and correctly handle the relationship with the country and the farmers.Study on the modern peasant association organization for peasants in contemporary Chinaprovides a useful reference. In the current new rural construction in our country,the question ofthe farmer organization related to the construction of grass root regime in China and realization ofthe villager autonomy,therefore farmer organizations under the new situation has become thefocus of current research,it is also the focus of China’s new rural construction. The current ruralshould establish new diverse forms of organization of farmers with modern significance,andfollow the principles and purposes to maximize the maintenance of the interests of farmers. Weshould combine the current social reality and pay attention to the economic organization of thefarmers’independence,respect the farmer organization and ensure the initiative and thevoluntary participation of farmers, to ensure the sustainable development of the peasantorganizations today.
