The traditional power theory tells us,a country whether it maximize thepossession of power, or maintain the relative dominant position of power,as long aspower is always have the advantage compared with other countries, the country’ssecurity can be guaranteed. However, this theory is not comprehensive. Inasymmetric conflicts, there is a special and common situation,it is less poweroccupancy of weaker countries also can appear challenging more powerful countries, which makes the country’s security is threatened. Small countries have at some pointdare to challenge those much more powerful than their country, the reason is that aparticular interest in the interest value degree of small countries is higher than in thepowerful countries,it makes the small countries prefer to obtain the interests as wellas the positive attack at greater cost. And the countries which occupy more power willhave sake of exercise benefits and costs of ultimately choose to "give up",thepossibility of this happening is another important reason of small countries dare tochallenge the big powers. When the small countries obtain the aid from other bigpowers, especially receive the five permanent members of the UN’s foreign aid, smallcountries have great probability of victory in confliction with the big powers, and therefore big powers will be more tend to choose "give up",at this time, theamount of power is only as a potential indicator, which can measure the size of thepower, small countries will occupy a dominant position by actual exercise. Throughthe model analysis and statistical analysis of positivist research methods, this papercome to the reason why small countries dared challenge big countries is the result ofthree factors: The value degree of the interests of small countries, the abandon degreeof the interests of big powerful countries, and whether small countries access toexternal assistance.Based on the relationship of three factors,I set a model of threefactors and the result of confliction, and express in the form of a formula. After thisstep, I use two cases of Suez canal struggle of Egypt and Falklands war to validatethis model, and finally illustrates that the model is reliable.
