The Strategic Orientation Of Chinese Pelagic Navy

Stepping into the new century, China gains his reorganization of being economic power. Despite the strength in economy, the China still has a long way to go in his navy development before the navy team becomes capable in dealing with affairs around. It is a must for Chinese navy to step further, for this is an urgent need for both China’s national interests and the current international situation. So while this dissertation is centring on the overall development strategies, the present status of Navy’s development are combined to discuss together about the strategic orientation of Chinese Pelagic Navy in near future. This strategic orientation is clarified into4perspectives with1core. The core remains to be the question that what kind of Pelagic Navy China will establish and the4perspectives are as follows:1the target orientation:what task the Chinese Pelagic Navy will do;2ability orientation:what kind of ability Chinese Pelagic Navy should have to do the task;3actual restrictions: capability limit of Chinese Pelagic Navy;4realistic orientation:what kind of Chinese Pelagic Navy China will own.China has always adhered to the way of peaceful development, but when faced with threats from abroad and ocean safety it will definitely enhance its process in establishing a stronger navy while still sustaining the peaceful road, meanwhile, China will raise the public awareness for ocean. This is the inevitable way to protect China from attack of those seen and unseen challengers in legitimate interest in ocean.
