Attention To The Spiritual Welfare Cultivating Healthy Mentality Constructing Harmonious Society

Social mentality is a “barometer” of social development and a “benchmark” of socialprogress. China is at the crucial point of social transformation, during which positive socialmentality is an essential precondition for a stable social progress. However, the contemporarysocial mentality has become a problem awaiting solutions. It is faced with such bigphenomenon as flippancy, pessimism and speculation. This thesis proposes spiritual welfarefor the mass as a way to cultivate positive social attitude.The first part of this thesis expounds the background and shows the significance ofresearch on social mentality and spiritual welfare, and elaborates the basic concepts,formation mechanism and constitution elements of social mentality.Under the guidance of Marxist theory that social existence determines social ideology,this thesis reviews the development of social mentality, and comes to conclusion that themainstream social mentality is open, tolerant, rational, peaceful and mature. But it should alsobe noted that some negative social mentalities have impeded the pace of social progress. Afterdetailed descriptions of issues that social mentality has encountered at present, this thesisconducts an analysis of the causes of negative social mentalities.Based on the causes of the negative social mentalities, this thesis proposes that spiritualwelfare is the best way to nurture positive social mentalities, and it analyses the positive effectspiritual welfare has on social mentality. The last part gives a brief introduction to the specificmeaning of spiritual welfare and the way it works, as well as the specific measures toeliminate negative social mentalities with spiritual welfare.
