Nowadays, the mass media is highly developed. To win public support hasbecome a common pursuit for those from ordinary people to state leaders, fromcommon organizations to the government bodies. Therefore the study of "mediaimage" is of vital importance. Based on this, this paper focuses on the media imagetransmission of state leaders of China based on news photos. This paper is dividedinto five major parts: the first chapter is an introduction, which describes the researchbackground, significance and methods, as well as literature review; the secondchapter defines the key concepts; the third chapter, which is the core part of this paper, analyzes the image samples and important samples in details while revolving the sixindexes set by the theme. On this basis, the fourth chapter discusses comprehensivelythe construction of the Chinese national leader’s images, the constraints and ways forimproving the spread of image and so on. This study found that, compared with theera of traditional mass media, the current Chinese medias’(especially online businessmedia) thinking of using state leaders’ pictures has undergone significant changes andprogresses, thus the final work of the media image of the leaders exhibits diversifiedtheme, active characterization, three-dimensional levels, in general it is more humane, pluralistic and well-rounded. This paper argues that, this is resulted fromcomprehensive factors such as the development of the society and the transformationof the political media thinking. It also reflects the objective requirement of the public. However, due to the constraints of the spread of the state leaders’ images, itsshortcomings, such as unvaried themes, dull content, exhibits mainly the image of thecollective and lacks a three-dimensional sense, still stand out. Therefore, this paperproposes that a more modernized state image of China could be constructed byliberating our thoughts as well as releasing and shaping more well-rounded mediaimages of state leaders.
