National identity is a topic of the relationship between Taiwan and China that hasbeen discussed constantly, which is closed to the Chinese people’s common interests.Chinese people’s common interests on politics, economics, security, culture, societyand eco-environment are taken as the material basis for the relationship betweenTaiwan and China, the socialist culture with Chinese characteristics and thecharacteristics of the Chinese culture in Taiwan are creatively reformed andpractically butt-jointed, and constructing the common value of worth of Taiwan andmainland and the bridge linking the two sides with an aim of harmonious unificationare promoted. Building the Chinese Dream, discussing the Chinese Dream andRealizing the Chinese Dream are considered as the main mission of the concept on AChina.There are five parts in this thesis. Firstly, primary elaborate the basis andsignificance of the study, research status and ideas, methods and focus of the study,difficulties and innovations. Secondly, the author makes an overview to the relatedconcepts over national identity and the common interests, and interpreting therelation between them, then concluding that national identity is the basis of thecommon interests of the Chinese and the interest is either the starting point orend-result of national identity. Thirdly, the thesis exalts the national identity to thelevel of the whole nation from a basis of a fact that two sides cannot be separatedand a truth that the common interests of the Chinese people is the keystone of theinterests. At the same time, the author lists the reasons of the research, which is apromotion of recognition to the secessionist forces at home and abroad, helpingpeople to establish proper view of the state, nation and world outlook, andfacilitating the process of realization of peaceful reunification early. Fourthly, theauthor concludes the development of policies of mainland government to Taiwan andthe specific expression of national identity on the independence and unity policies ofTaiwan government. The author also highlights the diversity of Taiwan Identity,analyzing the status of deficiency of Taiwan Identity in national identity, presentingthe possibility of a bilateral diverge from Taiwanese identity to Chinese identity.Fifthly, the author suggests that materialized contact between mainland and Taiwanshould be reinforced from the starting points of the Chinese people common interestson politics, economics, security, culture, society and eco-environment. Meanwhile, constructing a structural connection makes the relationship between two sides moreinstitutionalized and innovative. A thinking model of economics developmentcounting on the mainland and security depending on the U.S. should be shirked. Theauthor tries to analyze the possibility of co-construction the common sense of worthbetween two sides with fully engaging in primordialism and the theory ofconstruction. Based on a core idea of seek common ground while reservingdifferences, the author suggests two side could build common sense of worth.Simultaneously, soft power and centripetal force of both sides should be reinforcedthrough different path of education, which enable two sides construct, pursue andrealize the Chinese Dream together.
