The Mechanism Of Enabling And Participation For Rural Women

Explain how to enable rural women, enhance their participation and therebypromote rural development. Puhan Community in Yongji,Shanxi, is selected as a casefor field study; its experiences are explained in terms of enabling and socialparticipation. It is found that community activities and groups play importantroles in stimulating women to study, forming the sense of self-identity, andtriggering motivations for social actions. Then they will want more to participatein economy, improve their marketing and management abilities, especially ontraditional craft and micro finance. Enabling and participation are benefited eachother: the former enhance the latter and vice versa. Farmers cooperative can greatlypromote women’s abilities and participation; therefor build groups of womentalents in rural areas. The author suggests that, in order to promote women’sabilities and participation in rural areas, it is important to initiate communityactivities, thereby to form community groups, as well as farmer’s cooperatives,which should take economic operation and social services altogether.
