A Corpus-based Study On Frame Changes Of College Entrance Examination Reports

The thesis analyzes college entrance examination(CEE) reports from synchronic perspective and diachronic perspective with the collocational network method to find out the changes of CEE frames in the recent ten years. Three corpora(Corpus Before,Corpus During, Corpus After) are self-constructed based on China CEE reports from the two English newspapers China Daily and Global Times.In the synchronic study, the software Antconc 3.2.1 is used to search their respective keywords and specialized words. The results show that the main CEE frames in the Corpus Before are CEE preparation reports; while the main CEE frame in the Corpus During are CEE dynamics reports and CEE scores reports are the main CEE frames in the Corpus After.In the diachronic study, the study first counts the numbers of CEE reports in the three corpora, and then constructs their respective two collocational networks in different periods(five years of reports are taken as one period) to give a detailed analysis. The research shows that: In the Corpus Before, CEE preparation reports are the main frames through the ten years. In 2011, CEE fairness reports and CEE service reports appeared, and CEE reform reports in 2014 widen the CEE frame in the Corpus Before; the main CEE frames in the Corpus During are CEE dynamics reports and then CEE service reports appeared in 2012; CEE scores reports are the main frames in the Corpus After, and in 2006, CEE fairness reports appeared and CEE reform reports in 2011 enriched the CEE frame in the Corpus After. Based on the results, the thesis gives an analysis of the reasons for the changes of CEE frames from the views of language changes, newspaper reports and social development as well as their mutual relationships.The thesis makes a new research on China CEE reports from two English newspapers, which widen the research area and let the public know more about the relationships between language changes and social development.
