| Scriabin, who was born in Russia, was an outstanding musician at the end of the nineteenth century. Many of his works have reflected the characteristics of integrating Russian national customs into music creation. This paper discussed Scriabin’s composition, “Piano Sonata No. 2 in G-sharp minor(Op. 19, also titled Sonata-Fantasy)†and analyzed its embodying Russian soul from three aspects. Chapter 1 gives a comprehensive analysis of the musical language of “Sonata-Fantasyâ€. Specifically, the tonal musical form, harmony, polyphony, and the rhythm are included. Chapter 2 studies the performance techniques from the hierarchy of music, polyrhythm, and free rhythm. Based on that, the last chapter discusses the natural minor, lyrical melody of which Russians are good at using. Also, Scriabin’s unique religious mystery is explored in order to show the embodiment of the soul of Russian music in Scriabin’s composition. |
