Study On The Normative Use Of English Initialisms In The Chinese Language Newspaper Articles Based On The Analysis Of Guangzhou Daily And Nanfang Daily

China has actively learned the advanced science, technology and management philosophy since it adopted the reform and opening-up policy. China closely communicates and cooperates with foreign countries, get into the mainstream of globalization and in this process its language has been strongly influenced by English,English initialisms appeared in the mass media is growing fast. However the application form of the English initialisms varied and lack of standardization and thus hinders the efficient spread of news, creates barrier for media audience. This paper calculates the number of English initialisms appeared in 2014 November’s Guangzhou Daily and Nanfang Daily to illustrate that Chinese Language newspaper uses numerous English initialisms in every sheet and every field, the paper also sorts out and analyses the application problems among them. Then the paper analyses the reasons for the huge application of English initialisms, including the initialisms’ economic advantage, China’s learning of western countries advanced science,technology and management ideas, China’s lack of competent interpreter, journalists and editors’ lack of standardization consciousness, etc. Then the paper integrates the semiotics, semantics, psycholinguistics and communication theories to demonstrate that Chinese Language newspaper articles should use English initialisms normatively.In the end, the writer calls on the mass media to normatively use English initialisms and discusses the tactics and proposes some suggestions in the use of English intialisms.
