Research On The Application Of Light In Glass Art

For humans, light is an essential element of life as water and air. For a work of art, light as well as modeling and color, plays a pivotal role. The coordination of them can make gorgeous effect which touches people’s emotions, it can affect the vitality and visibility of exhibits. With the development continues, people increase demand for the graceful life, and glass art is increasingly applied in daily life. When light together with glass, it generates a new art form and as well as provides a new way of lighting. Light become riotous profusion due to glass, while glass art become more brilliant bright with light.The research of light application is a major aspect of glass art research. The thesis studies the application of light in glass art by the way of theory study and personal creation. It starts from the exploration of the role of light playing in glass art, and clears the concept of light in glass art, and then studies the various artistic effects of light in different glass processing methods by learning classic works of art and experiment, to explore the ways of creation. Finally, it shows my understanding of light application in glass art through creation. The thesis makes thorough research in theory, and try to achieve the theory in practice.There are a variety of glass processing ways because of its rich physical characteristics, and there are also different art styles and different techniques at different time, in different areas and cultures. Consequently, there will be different artistic effects when light is together with glass. In view of this, I firstly study the creation of glass technology, and then research some famous works at home and abroad, to further explore the effect of light in glass art. "The best virtue is like water." Lao-tzu said. My design "ZhongYu" is as said, shows the water’s calm, deep and benefit all things, to seek harmony between human and nature, while also expect to evoke inner peace and kindness, and through the art form of glass and light, to explore a kind of language with glass art in modern life.
