Shaoxiang And Chinese Yan Ancient Painting Research

This thesis studies the contemporary painter Yan Shaoxiang(1914-2014)’s life, paintings(imitation and creation), theory of painting and the inheritance of painting in Taiwan; and combs his painting, painting, painting education experience and achievements. He has experienced many changes in China’s modern politics and culture, but has been carefully studying the ancient Chinese painting,and also, he developed a rigorous and elegant aesthetic, created a superb painting techniques. His character is quiet,and he spent his life on imitating paintings, painting creation and painting education,searching for the heart and the words of the ancients, effortting to achieve the noble and elegant classical art realm, intending to apply this ancient law to their own paintings, and teaching students to inherit this.Yan Shaoxiang is a famous traditional figure painting of contemporary classical figure. It has been a long career ever since he started copying the ancient paintings. He caught the spirit in ancient painting copying process, also found their truths. His fine brushwork figure painting the bright, clean, quiet, good at to decorated the tree hill garden scene so that the screen is rich connotation and aftertaste long term. Yan Shaoxiang especially in classical lady known, his meticulous paintings in succession on the basis of traditional Beijing and more elegant quiet, linear to bamboo plants and the actual processing technique to avoid the hard and the flavor to and color caused by the overall harmony. Yan Shaoxiang’s historical figure Portrait of Shi Naian prominently reflects the innovation in the inheritance of ancient methods. Yan Shaoxiang in copying and painting, pen color with ink techniques and pigment production and appreciation of the painting theory are rich research achievements. In this paper, the above content is discussed.In the field of painting education, before liberation, he founded the long-term private “Xuelu drawing club”, served in public art institutions after liberation. As an example of the influence of his art education, this article introduces his two students of “Xuelu drawing club”:Lijinglan(1925-1984)and Wuwenbin’s(1924-?)The attainment and influence of Chinese painting in Taiwan after liberationin detail. They have repeatedly stressed Yan Shaoxiang’s kindness to their artistic development.It is urgently needed in modern Chinese society, in which traditional culture and aesthetic concept are weaker and weaker, that studying ancient law, inheritance, so that China’s inherent aesthetic concepts and techniques to preserve.
