In recent years, the academia has a high enthusiasm to the study of women’s history.There are more works about women’s marriage, and the content covers a wide range.Because Princess is a special part in women’s group, the research of them cannot be ignored. Princess represents the royal women, and their noble status, special identity, the wedding ceremony, wedding clothing, accessories, and so on, are the beacon of the ordinary women’s marriage.Han and Tang Dynasties are two important periods in Chinese feudal society.During the period of feudal society, “Princess” is a word contains wide meaning. The“Princess” that is mentioned in this thesis is the nominal daughter of emperor.Specifically, this thesis will deeply realize and explore Princess’ marriage condition in these two periods. Through the comparison of marriage of princesses in Han and Tang Dynasties, the characteristics, similarities and differences of the marriage of Princess in these two periods is realized, and through the comparison of the similarities and differences, analyzing the cause of these differences, thus comprehensively understanding the marriage of Princess in Han and Tang Dynasties, which is the main aim of this thesis.This thesis is separated to five parts:The first part is the introduction, which discusses the topics basis and present research situation in recent years of marriage of Princess in Han and Tang Dynasties, in order to obtain a basic understanding of the research about it.The second part discusses the general situation of Princess in Han and Tang Dynasties. The first is the origin of the appellation “Princess”. The second is the basic condition of Princess in Han Dynasty, which includes three parts – the education content and its form, the fief and salaries of Princess in Han Dynasty and the Princess of the HanDynasty management. The last is the basic condition of Princess in Tang Dynasty, which includes three parts – the education content and its form, the fief and other award of Princess in Tang Dynasty and the Princess of the Tang Dynasty management..The third part compares the marriage of Princess in Han and Tang Dynasties. The first is the narration of the similarities, which includes four parts –the characteristic of abundant bride-price and grand ceremony, the standards for selecting son-in-law, the family status of “female is superior and male is inferior” and Princess’ freedom to remarry. The second is the narration of the differences, which also includes seven parts –the differences of expression of “Princess’ marriage”, the difference of the age when Princess get marriage, developmental changes of marriage ceremony, the differences of peace-making marriage Princess, the development of rank, the opening degree of marriage life and after the demise of courtesy. Through the comparison, we realize that there is a certain continuity of the marriage of Han and Tang Princess, but there are also certain innovations.The fourth part discusses the reason of the similarities and differences of the marriage of Han and Tang Princess through the analysis of era, rights and culture, so obtaining a deeper understanding of the similarities and differences of the marriage of Princess in Han and Tang Dynasties.The fifth part is the conclusion. Through the analysis of the basic condition of Princess in Han and Tang Dynasty, the comparative study of the similarities and differences of their marriage and the reasons, this part carry on a comprehensive summary of the comparative analysis of the marriage of Princess in Han and Tang Dynasty.
