A Report On The Interpretation Practice Of International Forum On Specialty Coffee Bean Certification & Fair Trade And Estate Standardization

The 16 th Annual Meeting of China Association for Science and Technology was held in Kunming in 2014, I had the honor of being the chief interpreter of its 17 th Branch Meeting, which was titled the "International Forum on Specialty Coffee Bean Certification & Fair Trade and Estate Standardization”. The forum lasted for 4 days, during which the plenary portion of the academic conference was hosted from May 24 th to 25 th and on-the-spot investigation from May 26 th to 27 th. The forum had in its nature academic value because of its authority and professionalism. Besides, the diversified activities and occasions posed high requirements and challenges for me. On the basis of the practice I summarized the interpretation task and wrote this report.This report is composed of four parts. The first part introduces the background of the forum and analyzes its characteristics. The second part illustrates preparation and implementation, in which problems and solutions are included. The third part is the case study. Examples are given to demonstrate main problems as well as application of theories and techniques in interpreting. The forth part evaluates the performance and makes reflection based on pains and gains. It is expected that what I’ve learnt and studied cannot only guide my future study and work, but also be beneficial for course plan and be instructive for interpretation learners.
