The concept of "social" is repeated occurrences in Marx’s text.it is one of the core category of Marxism, it involves individuals, history, country, society, and many other categories. Social category occupies an extremely important position in Marxism.Any kind of significant value theory has its ideological origins rather than purely fictitious, and Marx’s social category is no exception. Trace to its source, Marx’s social category originated from the social theory and state theory of the western. At first, the philosophers think society and state is the same kind of concept, they think the social is the political community. with the development of the political theories, social and state are separated gradually in modern western. Hegel put forward that the state higher than civil society. Marx’s analysis the political situation at that time, and criticizes the theory of Hegel. he interprete the civil society from the aspects of production relations in that create the basic logic of the civil society is decide the state. Feuerbach’s humanism ideas also inspired Marx, the society is based on the difference of people, but unlike feuerbach’s theory, Marx think the society is based on the reality of the individual, and contact way is realistic practice activity.Marx’s "social" category has extensive knowledge and profound scholarship, if we hope understand this category, we should grasp its connotation, understand its essence, and distinguish the concept with others, and clarify the development grain of this category. In this paper, we discussed the "social" category in the static and dynamic dimensions. On the one hand, we talk about the formation process and the form of the "social" category. Although Marx believed that society is against with "personal" concept directly, but it is a universal human concept in essence. It is the product of the common interests fight with individual interests. His mode of relational thinking reflected the materialist point of view directly, because of this relationship is not feuerbach’s intuitive relationship, but is relationship based on production relations. Because the use of "society" tends to generally, so we need to distinguish itself with other concept in order to understand the "social" category, for example the nation, the history and so on, especially the state, because the formation of the society category is built on the basis of those difference. On the other hand, Marx’s social concept is not a static category, it contains the relationship of the human, the society, and nature, it not only involves the social development, also involves the evolution of social formation, so we should understand the "social" category in the light of their development.Above all, Marx’s social category occupies an important position in the historical materialism. His mode of relational thinking, thinking, his Philosophical task of "change the world" and his humanism provides a new method of philosophy for us.
