Argot is a kind of language using in social sectors, groups or within colonies. Contracted by the current language,it has a closed, concealment trait. It is a special language and has played as a guard for watching inside secrets, the interests and maintaining the industry to developing. Frequency of occurrence in the Qing chivalric novel is relatively high. The author chooses five of the typical of chivalrous novels:"Shi Gong Cases", "Three Heroes and Five Gallants," "Xiao Wu Yi", "Yongqing peace and prosperity", "The Tale of Heroes" (Qing Dynasty detective fiction novels and chivalric novels, collectively known as the chivalrous novels, are discussed in detail in the text). The author statistics, analyse,discript and interprete the cant,and contract each other by ancient and modern, as opposed to modern, exploring grammar law,revealing the impact of cultural factors on the cant.The article is divided into six parts.The first part is an introduction, defines the concept of cant, introduced several other different names, analyze the difference. The author elaborated cant’s generation, development and origins, reviewed the domestic academic research from the Republic of China to the modern. At last,the author points out the method of this paper to understand.The second part discusses the types of Qing Dynasty cant. In this paper, according to the meaning of words,the authoe divideds the cant into five categories,such as appellation,the species, nature of the state as well as some other categories of words that is not easy to seperate. Also, the author selects a representative words to explain terms, illustrate in context.The third part examines the hidden words of word-building method. Words for internal assessment, which analyzes word formation methods into words, metonymy, comparison, homophonic with the Code, possession of the first contraction tail, association and euphemism.Section fourth, summarizes the characteristics of hidden words, they are: confidentiality, one word for more thant one meaning and many words for one meaning, words for variant forms, connected with cultural customs, blu rboundarieswith dialect and slang, non-words cant, multi-feature metonymy and metaphor characteristics of these areas.The fifth part demonstrates the development of hidden words, with the dynamic approach to investigate the influence of contemporary words. We discuss the demise,using and development of the cant.The sixth part is a summary of the article research.
