| Employee advice-seeking behavior becomes more and more important in the knowledge economy era. Therefore an increasing number of people pay attention to this domain. But the proposal advice-seeking behavior measurement study is relatively absent,even if some of them are only measured as a whole dimension, without conducting in-depth research to seek the intrinsic dimension of the advice-seeking behavior. In order to widen the existing research, we explore the effect of goal orientation on the advice-seeking behavior and the impact of advice-seeking behavior on performance. Specifically, this paper contains two studies:In the first part, study through analysis of documents produced semi-structured interview, through semi-structured interviews of 15 samples, we collected employees seeking behavior, to know about the characteristics and content of advice-seeking behavior.Secondly, based on the literature analysis, we collect and transcript and analysis the interview data, discuss the content of advice-seeking behavior, prepared an initial proposal seeking behavior questionnaire items. Finally, 350 employee advice-seeking behavior questionnaire and testing make recommendations to seek the reliability and validity of questionnaire and form the final advice-seeking behavior questionnaire.In the second part, we use a structured questionnaire to test the relationship between advice-seeking behavior and goal orientation then we also test the effect of different advice-seeking behavior on perceived performance and perceived creativity, so that we can further the construct validity of the structural inspection of the advice-seeking behavior.There are 350 people come from Fujian, Suzhou, Xinjiang province, we choose the subordinate and its direct leadership in the organization. Through linear regression analysis and structural equation models of this study, we examine the relationship between advice-seeking behavior and goal orientation, the moderation of self-esteem, and also explore the relationship between advice-seeking behavior and perceived performance and perceived creativity. The conclusions are as follows:(1) Advice-seeking behavior in china context was a multidimensional construct. It consisted of autonomous advice-seeking and dependent advice-seeking.(2) Autonomous advice-seeking predicted employee learning goal orientation positively; Dependent advice-seeking predicted employee performance goal orientation positively.(3) Self-esteem moderated the effect of dependent advice-seeking and employee performance goal orientation. When the self-esteem is high, the relationship of dependent advice-seeking and employee performance goal orientation is more significant.(4) Autonomous advice-seeking predicted employee perceived performance positively,dependent advice-seeking predicted employee performance goal orientation negatively.Both of them have significant result. Autonomous advice-seeking predicted employee perceived creativity positively and its relationship is significant, however, there is positive relationship between dependent advice-seeking and perceived creativity, but its result is not significant. |
