Since 2004, South Korea established the first Confucius Institute, China and South Korea have a lot of exchanging in education, cultural. More and more Korea people began to learn Chinese and try to understand Chinese culture. Chinese language education in Korea is moving towards civilians, facing the South Korean people’s learning needs, the Confucius Institute plays a crucial role as important cultural transmission media in Chinese learning. For more effectively disseminate Chinese culture in Korea, we need to know the Korean audience’s cognitive status and needs of the Chinese culture, but the related research is very limited. This paper tried to start from the multi-class cultural elements to give some analysis, in order to provide some empirical evidence on Korean students’ cultural communication strategy, content, methods, and provide advice to the Confucius Institute about culture teaching and selecting cultural elements. In this article we mostly gave a research to the students of the DongSoe University Confucius Institute to know their cognitive status and cultural needs about Chinese culture. To compare the differences between different levels of Chinese learners and different social backgrounds in Chinese culture on perceptions and needs. Analyze the causes of the differences, and then find the best way to spread culture content. Through the survey we found that Korea Confucius Institute students’ cognition about Chinese culture is still in a low level. And they also showed a trend of diversification in the choice of the cognitive pathway. Through the survey we found that students need for individual cultural elements are concentrated on just one side of Chinese culture. By comparing different gender and whether you ever went to China or not is a major factor in cultural content requirement, and the level of Chinese had a less impact on the Chinese cultural content. Finally, the paper argues that, at present, "experience" and "communication" has become the keywords for Confucius Institute students to understand Chinese culture. Dissemination of Chinese culture at the Korean, we need to select the different culture contents according to features of Korean students. And determine the teaching methods as well. The Confucius Institute at the same time plays the key role of as a comprehensive cultural exchange platform; it should build this system by enhancing the use of multimedia, integrating existing resources, strengthening multilateral cooperation, and at last meet the students’ need for Chinese culture cognition.
