Xinjiang was called the Western Regions, which is a multi-ethnic, multi-religious and multi-cultural coexistence region. The special geographical location and massive historical culture added some attractioon for this piece of barren land, it also produces the seeds of poetry at the same time. With the founding of New China, the creation of Xinjiang’s poetry gets into a new milestone. The development and construction of northwest frontier attracts a large number of builders, poets and writers who write the poetry about northwest frontier life. In the early 1980s, when the misty poetry boom subsided, the New Frontier poetry, with the regional poetry group showing up in poetic circles, produced large reflection. The energetic style of this group got much attention among critics and scholars. As the cradle of New Frontier poetry, Xinjiang is paid more attention to the misty poetry on this occasion. From the original creative practice to the later development, the New Frontier Poetry of Xinjiang has corresponded with the era. Its meaning cannot be ignored no matter from the value of the research on the history of contemporary poetry, or from the spiritual significance and aesthetic patterns of poetry.The author takes the New Frontier Poetry from 1978 to 1989 of Xinjiang as the research object and divides the thesis into three parts, namely, preface,body and conclusion. While analyzing the text, the author uses the research methods of social and historical criticism. The preface illustrates the research achievements of the New Frontier Poetry of Xinjiang from the overall research and case analysis.Then the significance of further research is presented. The body part consists of three chapters. Chapter one overviews the New Frontier Poetry, including the formation of the New Frontier Poetry, the transformation of the poet’s identity and the classification of the New Frontier Poetry of Xinjiang. Chapter two discusses the spiritual connotation of the New Frontier Poetry from the perspective of living environment and the national spirit. Based on the appreciation of the poetry,chapter three explores the diverse aesthetic patterns of the New Frontier Poetry through the detailed analysis of the environment and the time. The conclusion part elaborates the achievement and the contemporary value of the New Frontier Poetry in the context of contemporary Chinese history and western poetry. It also points out the limitations in the poetry creation and thus expects the developing prospect of the New Frontier Poetry of Xinjiang.
