The Correlation Of "Say What"、"How To Say" And Working Alliance、Session Outcome In Counseling

Language is an important tool for people to communicate, express laeas ana spreaa culture. For a long time, whether it is the ordinary of interpersonal interaction, or counseling, people pay more attention to the language content, however, language style is aslo an important part of communication, even can reflect the interaction relations and quality. Interpersonal sychorony can effectively promote the engagement and understanding between each other. Language style matching is one of interpersonal sychorony. Some reasearch have found that language style matching can reflect the interactive relationship, task completion quality, the outcome of the negotiations, empathy in standardization counseling and so on. So far, there is no research has focused on the language style matching and language content of real consulting relationships.Study one using computer quantitative lexical analysis, calculate the language style matching and number of some content words in Rogers’ couseling and some real counseling, analyze the relationship between language style matching, specific vocabulary quantity and counselors’ empathy. Results show that language style matching can predict counselors’ empathy, but language content cannot forecast counselors’ empathy.Study two explore the relationship between language style mathing, specific words and working alliance, session outcome. The results show that the language style matching has nothing to do with the working alliance, session outcome, but the specific vocabulary quantity were significantly related with working alliance and session outcome.The conclusion of the study are as follows:(1) Compared to the real counseling, Rogers’ couseling have a higher degree of language style matching. Rodgers couseling concentrate more on this moment, personal expression and emotion;(2) "What to say" cannot predict the counselors’empathy, "how to say" in a certain extent can predict counselors’empathy, but the prediction direction still need to be further explored;(3) "How to say" cannot predict the therapist and client assessment of the working alliance and session outcome; but "what to say" can predict the therapist and patient assessment of the working alliance and session outcome.Finally, reflect the deficiency of the study from the perspective of research methods and research contents and put forward ideas for future research, also, the theoretical and practical implications of this study are discussed.
