Research On Michel De Certeau’s Daily Life Practice Theory

This paper takes the France scholar Michel De Certeau’s theory:the practice of daily life as study object, mainly study the practice methods and practice areas. And this is the essence of the daily life practice theory. This paper will be divided into four chapters:first chapter about the theoretical background and sources of daily life practice. The second chapter refers to the interpretation of daily life practice; the third chapter talks about the enlightenment of daily life practice and the fourth chapter about the retrospection of the defect of daily life practice.This paper can be logically divided into two parts:the first and the second chapters can be as the first part, this part mainly refers to the theoretical background and sources of the theory of daily life practice; the third and the fourth chapters as the second part, this part mainly discusses the enlightenment of daily life practice theory in contemporary, as well as the retrospection of the defects of this theory.The first chapter mainly teases the theoretical background and sources of Certeau’s daily life practice theory. The first section is about the theoretical background, mainly talk about Lefebvre’s impact on Certeau’s daily life theory and expound the question about the activity of masses and their identity be producers. The second section talks about theoretical sources of daily life practice. And talk about the influence of Freud and Foucault on Certeau’s daily life practice theory by the Certeau’s analysis on Children’s Literature, Daydreaming, "Wig" and expound how the power discipline the masses in Michel Foucault’s Discipline and Punish.The second chapter overall expound daily life practice theory through the practice methods and practices area. The first section explains the practitioners’primary practice methods, including:"Use", "Consumption", "Strategies" and "Tactics", as well as one of the most typical cases-"Wig". The third chapter first introduces the main position of the masses in modern society, reveals that just because the important position makes their space practice be filled with resistance against power in the case of the rapid development of modern electronic media. The question about "the resistance of masses against the power", this paper points out that the masses will choose, identify, resist authority under characterization in daily lives. Second, this paper talks about the masses space practice. Certeau’s thinks that the masses do not follow the conventional practice to walk and consumer in space is a kind of space practice, which can liberate the Body; active in a designed building is a kind of constraint for the masses. Derteau’s space practice theory has enlightenment for the development of architectural, so modern buildings maybe do not follow traditional styles but by a variety of styles to realize the space practice. And at the end, this paper talks about this question that practice theory provides a theoretical basis for Marxist Literary Criticism.The fourth chapter mainly refers the missing attention on the influence of contemporary electronic media and the resistance of power in Derteau’s practice theory. And as such questions that the masses’ resistance power is too puny that the effects of masses practice is not significant.
