This dissertation is based on the Max Bruch’s Clarinet, Viola and Orchestra Double Concerto op.88 as an example, which analysis, discussion and researched from the composer’s background,writing styles, analysis of form and musical harmony. Moreover, this dissertation also focus on the performance techniques and coordinate of the clarinet and viola.The practice of ensemble and analysis of performance methods will help the performer improving the ability to control their performance, understand and analysis the composition, which can reach sublimation and deposition of self musicianship. This is the fundamental purpose of practicing and playing chamber music ensembles.This dissertation is divided into three chapters, the first chapter introduced the life and creation of Bruch, which used two sections to show the change of Bruch’s compositional style from early to middle period. Besides, this section also present the excellent compositions during the Bruch’s late period, which in order to introduce and analysis the composition of Bruch’s Clarinet, Viola and Orchestra Double Concerto op.88.The second chapter is to analysis the Clarinet, Viola and Orchestra Double Concerto op.88. The first part introduces the background and the creative process of the composition, and the second part is to present the musical structure and style features of the composition. Through the second chapter, origins of the clarinet and viola ensemble, common musical instrument performances, the musical structure and style characteristics of the composition would be showed as the meaning of the work.The third chapter is the performance analysis of the Clarinet, Viola and Orchestra Double Concerto op.88, which divided into three sections, every sections is the first, second, and third movement. The methods of this analysis is according to self-practice and experiments from rehearsal and performance of the concert.
