Feminist Criticism On American TV Series Orphan Black

American drama is a kind of communication phenomena that should not be ignored as it’s more and more popular in the world. At the same time, female drama, which is showed on female perspective and is played by female people, is occupying television screen as time goes by. It changed the phenomena that woman is absence, which is the feature of those dramas affected by male chauvinism. Orphan Black is a science fiction drama, its feminism traits that is rare in another same kind of drama make it be meaningful to analyze this drama that is played by actress.On the basic of text analysis, this thesis took the position of Feminism,discussed how Orphan Black deconstructed male chauvinism narration and interpellate female subject consciousness then appeal harmonious development between man and woman. This thesis could be divided into six parts. The first parts is Chapter 1, it presented the background of research. The second part explained Feminism theory, introduced American TV series briefly and presented thesis arguement. The third, fourth and fifth part are the essential part of this thesis, it analyzed TV text on the aspects of characters creation and narrative to present how feminism was presented by Orphan Black, and it analyzed the reasons and meaning of female character becoming stronger. The last part is conclusion, concluded the whole resarch of this thesis.
