Ethical Review Of Public Life

Public life nourishes the progress of history and the development of society as well. Multiple subjects, wider communication channel and social network structured by Intersubjective not only enrich people`s life, but also increase their sense of attainment and fulfillment. However, individuals tend to be confused by the question whether they should “do their own good” or “sacrifice themselves to bring benefits for others”, since they have to share sources with others for better cooperation while having crazy favor to conduct a better life for their own sake. Dating back to the history of traditional social network form, the disorder of the ethical relationship is the main reason for immoral behaviors in public life. Throughout the history of social evolution, there was once a compulsory ethical from whose regulations were provided by so-called elites. However, in modern time, the moral regulations have based on sharing the same interests and good with others. To be more specifically, the first social structure forces people to ‘be subjected’ by using punishment, aiming to isolate specific rebels by dividing class, while the second structure ignores the ethical consciousness of ‘being a citizen’ in the modern society by letting people have the illusion that they share the same interests.Therefore, how to cultivate public spirit and enhance the civil morality, and thus to support the modern public life will be the vital task of constructing socialism with Chinese characteristics. This research is derived from the anxiety rooting by the disorder and no norms of public life in China, which makes this paper itself have stronger will to solve the existing problem and give the realistic life a guidance. Focusing on clarifying the academic word, ethical attributes and the forms of historically evolutional theory of ‘public life’, this paper finally provides a governance in moral field which is based on the principle including communication, love and justice, and be conducted by multiple roles including authority, enterprise, social groups and citizens` autonomy. And also, a possible prospect in practice——which supposes that moral consciousness can be invoked and thus bring benefits for public life——will be shown in this research. The reason why we arouse people`s awareness on the assumption that self-consciousness of moral individuals plays a fundamental role in improving public life, is that we hope to correct the way in which citizens only passively accept the regulations forced by other authorities. This can recall citizens’ self-consciousness and critical spirit, and in a result, they may participate in the public affairs more actively, rather than passively accept resources provided by public space without critical thinking and thus are reluctant to bring interest for others in return.
