Eros is a timeless topic, implying secrets of human being. It is the crazy instinct full of power, while it can become the sources of self-exceeding. To be at ease to fulfill the instinct of itself, or to realize its best self, this is the struggle of Eros. Through revealing the tragedy spirit, Nietzsche exposed this question hidden in the poetic to the light of day, in addition, he provided a possible starting point for a deep consideration of how can we understand Eros and shaped ourselves soberly. The first chapter concerns the theme and the method. Usually, we tend to focus too much on the plot and ignore the author’s intentions, or simply equal the author’s purpose to the theme of the story. However, the distinction between "of what" and "for what" in the tragedy is the starting point of this exploration. The theme of Oedipus Tyrannus the moral condemnation to his sins, but taboos are not the real subjects, what behind the discussion of taboo is the reflection of Eros, which concerns the essence of man. On the one hand, through understanding of the Oedipus Tyrannus, depends to adopt the prospects both focus on characters and the plot, and the key to the full consideration of Oedipus is to answer the question that, what is the relationship between solving the riddle of the sphinx and committing the double sin; On the other hand, the analysis should not be limited to the tragedy itself but also accommodate the intentions of the author, which became manifest through Nietzsche. The second chapter is a kind of extension, or connection. After the analysis of the rational power and its result the blind optimism of Oedipus, this chapter turns to Nietzsche’s criticism of Socrates’ theoretical optimism. Actually these two parts have internal relations. In the tragedy, irony of fate on Oedipus expressed the dissatisfaction from poets with the philosophers; the rational that Sophocles accused of, even if it is not unique to a philosopher, it especially aims at philosopher, It is out of the same reason that Nietzsche hate Socrates. In this sense, Nietzsche is on behalf of the poets, he shows the intention of the tragedy and the poets. However, despite their stirring criticism, the response from philosophy in the end proves that both tragic poet and Nietzsche, their understanding of reason, especially their view of philosophy is extremely insufficient and incomplete. But we should take place of Nietzsche and continue to think further: does true philosophy led to an end to tragedy? The third chapter is focus on the end of the Oedipus, it expresses that the argue between poet and philosophy through what Oedipus may get in different forms. In the tragedy, Oedipus blinded himself and banished himself as punishment: that kind of Eros was not forgiven: through revealing the tragedy spirit, Nietzsche gave Oedipus his behavior the tragic meaning, self-destruction. The admitted of the tragedy spirit in this kind of behavior show that Eros is the nature of human, but wild: This is the foundation of all civilizations, but also has strong destructive force; Philosophy offered a way out for Oedipus, by changing the direction of Eros, philosophy made it aim at good and pursue immortality, this change not only avoided destruction of Oedipus, and purified the poetic comprehension of Eros. Through itself, philosophy leaded to the combination of thought and Eros, namely combination of limitless pursuit and limited nature. In this sense, philosophy makes human become the most noble existence.
