Practice Report On The Translation For The 21st Century Maritime Silk Road And Promoting International Production Capacity And Equipment Manufacturing Cooperation Forum

This paper of which the source texts are gained from the author’s experience and work during the preparation of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and Promoting International Capacity and Equipment Manufacturing Cooperation Forum, is a practice report on translation. There are three types of source texts, namely:invitation letter; participant handbook; and speech draft. Under the instruction of his off-campus supervisor, the author finished the translation of all the texts. After the task, the writer made a analysis to his translation under the author’s supervisor’s instruction, thus this paper is written.As a propose newly promoted by Chinese government, international production capacity and equipment manufacturing cooperation is essential for the common development of China, countries along maritime Silk Road and ASEAN countries. Being the first international forum focusing on international production capacity and equipment manufacturing cooperation, it is undeniable that the successful holding of the forum will do great contributions to the tight cooperation and common development of the relevant parties so as to create a "Diamond Decade."All the source texts, compiled by sponsors and organizers of the forum during the preparation stage, have their own functions and characteristics. Invitation letter is very important in international activities as it shows the country’s attitude to the relevant activity and respect to the invitee, thus it will directly impact on the successful holding of the forum; participant handbook is a handbook that introduces the theme, process, agenda of the forum to all the participants of the forum, it plays an important role during the holding of the forum as it provided many helpful and practical information to guests. And speech draft is a written text of the words and sentences spoken on the forum by speaker to show their interests and attitudes about the purpose of the forum. Besides, whether the documents are well translated or not, they will address great impact on the successful holding of the forum. Thus, to conduct a study about the translation of the mentioned documents is of great value.The paper is divided into four parts:Task description, Process description, Cases study and conclusion. And from the perspective of rhetorical persuasion theory, the author hopes to provide a model for the later researchers.
